We've lost one of the all time greats.

Sid Davis was, still is, and always will be a legend in the educational and ephemeral film worlds. His films are considered way over the top and woefully outdated by today's standards, but during their time, they were among the best.

You can't deny Davis's talent; he could take the most miniscule budgets and make films that commanded attention and taught their lessons well - even if Davis had to scare the living hell out of his viewers to teach them. :)

The fact that, instead of vanishing into oblivion, Sid Davis's educational films continue to be viewed and talked about some 50+ years after they were made is a further testament to his talent.

You know, with the short attention spans of today's TV and technology obsessed kids, what we really need is another Sid Davis to make educational films for them. Can you imagine Sid making a film about online predators and My Space? :)

RIP, Sid - you will be missed.
